I'm excited to share the outstanding progress our Charles County High School Fire-Rescue Cadets have made this week!
🚑 EMT TRAINING – HANDS-ON PATIENT CARE
Our EMT Cadets have been actively engaged in hands-on patient care scenarios, putting their classroom knowledge into practice while developing the skills, confidence, and teamwork necessary to become successful emergency medical providers.
Every cadet is actively participating, and it is especially rewarding to witness their continued enthusiasm, motivation, and eagerness to learn!
A special thank you to MFRI Instructor Denise Massey and Recruiter Chris Schaefer for stepping in this week to assist with instruction. Your time, dedication, and support of our cadets are sincerely appreciated!
🚒 FIREFIGHTER I TRAINING – ANSWERING THE BOX!
On the firefighting side of the program, our cadets have been working diligently to become proficient with their personal protective equipment (PPE).
Through repetitive, timed evolutions known as "ANSWERING THE BOX," cadets are developing the ability to properly don their protective equipment in under two minutes!
These exercises emphasize speed, accuracy, discipline, and readiness, all essential skills for firefighters responding to emergencies. It's exciting to watch their confidence and abilities improve with each training evolution!

This is an exceptional group of young men and women who continue to demonstrate their commitment to learning, teamwork, and preparing for a future in the Fire and EMS service.
As their Coordinator, I couldn't be prouder of their progress, dedication, and positive attitudes. Watching these young people develop into tomorrow's emergency responders is truly rewarding!
