At approximately 9:00 PM, the Charles County 911 Center received a report that a man had fallen into a sewer hole at an IShine Place address in Nanjemoy. The caller stated that the strong odor prevented her from getting close to the individual. Emergency dispatchers immediately dispatched the "confined space" assignment to respond to the incident.
Fire and EMS units from Nanjemoy arrived within minutes and located a male subject clinging to the side wall of a septic tank. Chief #4 (Siarkowski) established command at the scene and directed the crew to assist the man using a ladder, ensuring he did not fall further into the tank.
The man was evaluated by Ambulance #4 and transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Additional responding units, totaling 34 personnel, were returned to service. Responders noted the subject’s efforts to hold on until help arrived.
