| Today, the Charles County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association partnered with the Westlake Volunteer Fire & EMS Department to host a firehouse tour and firefighter gear demonstration for The Arc of Southern Maryland.
The Arc of Southern Maryland is a nonprofit organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), empowering them to achieve independence and thrive in inclusive communities. It was an honor to welcome their participants to our station.
Our guests had the opportunity to learn about fire safety, explore our apparatus, see the day-to-day operations of a working firehouse, and visit many of the areas the public doesn’t often get to see. They also experienced a live firefighter gear demonstration to help educate them on the protective equipment firefighters wear and why it’s so important.
The Arc participants were outstanding guests, and we truly enjoyed spending time with them. We appreciate the opportunity to share our passion for the fire service and look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
Special thanks to department Chief Alex Sutter, for allowing the association to utilize his Fire Department for today’s event. |
