Fire Alarm Company Reports Home on Fire in La Plata Area

At 11:46 this morning, Fire and EMS units from La Plata Volunteer Fire Department and neighboring departments responded to the 11000 block of James Joyce Court for a reported structure fire at the rear of a residence. Engine 11, Truck #1 and Battalion Chief 1B arrived within minutes, with Engine 11 confirming a small fire outside the home that had started to spread inward.

Incident command was established by Battalion Chief 1B and coordinated operations with Engine 11 and Truck 1. Engine 33 provided a water supply in the area, while Engine 11 and Truck 1 worked together to quickly extinguish the fire.

The incident commander requested the Fire Marshal to contact him directly by cell phone and released all other Fire and EMS resources from the scene. The activation of the fire alarm system, including smoke alarms, was noted during the incident.
