Sprinkler Activation Makes Quick Work for Firefighters

Bryans Road, MD — Shortly after 6:30 PM, Fire/EMS units responded to a reported structure fire in the 6500 block of Jessica Court in the community of South Hampton.
Engine 112 arrived on scene within minutes, finding fire conditions in the kitchen area of the residence. Battalion Chief 8B (Newman) assumed command of the incident. Firefighters from E112 quickly advanced a preconnected cross-lay into the structure and worked in coordination with the home's sprinkler system to complete extinguishment.
Additional support was provided by NDW Truck 20 and Engine 73. Incoming units were staged under the direction of command to ensure efficient resource management.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal has been requested to investigate the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross was also contacted to assist the displaced family.
Thanks to a rapid response and the activation of the sprinkler system, the fire was contained quickly, minimizing damage and preventing injuries.
