@0711 hrs. this morning units from La Plata and surrounding companies responded to a reported house fire at 118 Mallard Lane in Quailwood Sub-Division of La Plata. Units arrived and encountered heavy fire conditions from the Side "C" with extension to the second floor and attic. Units made a aggressive attack of the fire on the first floor and a second crew made entry to the second floor. Once on the second floor the crew fell through the floor into the first floor announcing a "MAYDAY". Focus immediately shifted to the MAYDAY of which was cancelled right away with the two firefighters made it out safely. Two firefighters were transported to Charles Regional Hospital for check-up as a pre-caution only. 54 firefighter/EMS personnel were on the scene and fire is currently under investigation by MD State Fire Marshal's Office.

1500 hrs. - both volunteer firefighters injured this morning are released and home resting. We thank the excellent ambulance/medic crews on the scene as well as the professional staff at Charles Regional Emergency Department....
