| At approximately 12:45 PM today, an alarm monitoring company notified the 911 center of a smoke detector activation at a home in the 3400 block of Williamsburg Drive in the Pinefield community of Waldorf. Waldorf Volunteer firefighters and surrounding departments responded to the scene. Within minutes, Battalion Chief 3B (Mills) arrived and confirmed fire on the first floor with extension into the attic area. Engine 33 arrived closely behind, deploying a hose to extinguish visible flames on the first floor. Engine 11, Engine 22, and Engine Tanker 836 provided assistance with conducting searches and extinguishing fire in the attic, under the supervision of Chief 2A (Dean). The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes. T11 was held to assist with cleanup. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the affected family. No injuries were reported in this incident. The cause was determined to be a burned fish tank motor, which spread fire to the walls and ceiling before fire department crews arrived. |
