On Friday, January 9, 2026, the Charles County Volunteer Firemen's Association, Inc. and the Charles County Association of Emergency Medical Services, Inc. held their Annual Installation of Officers Banquet at the Jaycee's Hall in Waldorf. The event was attended by Acting County Administrator Deb Hall, Commissioner Gilbert Bowling, and Sheriff Troy Berry, who joined in marking the occasion. During the banquet, County EMS Chief Jamie Smith recognized the top emergency medical providers by presenting them with certificates. Additionally, four volunteer members were honored for their 50 years of service. Lisa Yates from the Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad received the Dr. Henry Burke Award in recognition of her accomplishments throughout 2025.
