Member, American Legion, Hughesville; Waldorf Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW); Charles County Historical Society. Past president, Society for the Restoration of Port Tobacco. Member, Vestry, Old Durham Episcopal Church, Nanjemoy, Maryland. Widower; five children; four grandchildren.
