Two Story Middle of Row Structure Fire in Waldorf

Just after 6:30 PM Fire/EMS units from Waldorf VFD and surrounding departments were called to 3000 blk of Heathcote Road for a reported "home on fire". In minutes Waldorf E31 and Waldorf Tower #3 arrived, began an aggressive interior attack, searching for anyone inside. Fire was put out in 10 minutes with negative search results E31, TW3, E11, RE121, T11, operating. Chief 3 (Durrer) had "Command" with Special Ops Chief (Mills) assisting at the command post. Extensive "overhaul", Fire Marshals office was requested, building inspector requested, Red Cross for two families. One civilian evaluated, refused treatment/transport.

The cause of the accidental fire, located on the exterior of the residence, was the result of improperly discarded materials in the trashcan. As a result of the fire one adult and 2 children, as well as the occupants of a neighboring residence, were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
