At 0347 hrs. County Volunteer Firefighters, EMS and mutual aid companies responded to a town house fire at 2584 Hatteras Circle in Waldorf. When units from Waldorf #3 arrived they encountered "heavy fire conditions" from the 1st and 2nd floors of the townhouse. Command was established (CH1A) and a "2nd alarm" was ordered as a precaution should the fire spread to surrounding homes. The quick fire attack from the volunteers and "firewalls" on both sides of the structure prevented the fire from spreading. As a result of the fire, 6 citizens have been displaced and Red Cross is handling their will being. The fire is currently under investigation by the MD Fire Marshal's Office. No injuries were reported.
