Volunteer Fire/EMS Respond to House Fire with Person Trapped

911 Center received a call at 5:37 this morning caller stating "their home was on fire and someone was still in the basement". Fire units from La Plata and surrounding volunteer departments responded to 11345 Dobbins Lane with DES Southern Medical Duty Officer arriving first reported a structure with fire on the side charlie deck and all occupants out prior to arrival. E12 arrived, passed command and "went to work"! Chief 1 (Sekuterski) arrived, "established command" instructing all incoming units to stage, Chief 3A (Mills) was assigned "attack group supervisor" with E12, E33, T12 and RS2. Fire contained to deck and exterior walls, no extension inside the home. Units cleared in one hour, no reported injuries to the residents or firefighters on scene. Fire Marshal's Office notified....

Residents were keeping animals warm on the deck, occupant reported the "red heating light" apparently fell on the straw used for bedding and caught deck on fire
