| The Bel Alton Volunteers will be hosting a Firefighter Burn Injury and Awareness Class being presented by the Burn Center of Washington Hospital Center, as well as the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, 1900 hours @ Station 10. The class is given in 2 portions; First portion is based on PPE awareness, hazards in firefighting, hoseline and tactics, and firefighter awareness. The second portion is based from the medical perspective of burn injuries from time of burn, all the way to treatment and recovery, both on scene and in the hospital settings. We would like to extend the invite to all of our neighboring departments, both Fire and Ems to attend this outstanding training opportunity. The class is free, we just ask that you try to give us a heads up if anyone from your department plans to attend, and a possible head count if available. This class reviews local case studies that most of us are knowledgable of, and the class has also earned a praise of a 20% reduction in burn injuries in our area since it was developed over 5 years ago. To RSVP or for any questions/concerns, please call myself or the station and leave a message. |
