Would you like to attend the Fire Department Instructor's Conference (FDIC)?
The Fire Department Instructor's Conference (FDIC) will be held on April 8-13, 2019 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Attendees of the program will explore current and evolving concepts in fire/EMS service management, leadership, and administration. The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA) Training Committee, with funds from the SAFER Grant, is sponsoring eight scholarship opportunities for Maryland Fire Service Personnel to attend the conference. The scholarship will reimburse recipients up to $2700 for the conference registration, travel to and from Indianapolis, IN and hotel expenses (GSA rate of $160/night) along with a $54/day per diem.
The Fire Department Instructor's Conference (FDIC) will allow attendees exclusive access to top experts, the ability to exchange ideas, participate in some of the most advanced hands–on training available and become familiar with the latest tools and equipment in the fire service. In addition, FDIC is the only international conference that inclusively address fire and EMS service issues.
FDIC features more than 160 educational sessions with almost 60% of such addressing leadership issues. Members who are in attendance of these classes will be afforded the opportunity to see what new and exciting technologies are being offered for the fire service. Upon returning from the conference, the attendees will be able to share the information that they gathered and learned with their respective departments. Sharing this information will allow their department the opportunity to enhance the day-to-day operations along with maximizing personnel safety.
Scholarship recipients will be required to submit all of their receipts at the conclusion of the conference for reimbursement up to the eligible amount. In addition, as part of the reimbursement process, attendees will be required to provide the MFCA Training Committee with a one page synopsis of what they learned in the course and how they will share such information with their department and/or jurisdiction.
Individuals applying for the scholarship MUST BE a current volunteer member in good standing of a Maryland volunteer fire, rescue and/or EMS company.
