September 28, 2016

An 8-year-old girl is being hailed as a hero for calling 911 after she recognized that her mother was having a stroke.
A'nasia Clayton was home with her mother in Charles County, Maryland, when she saw that one half of her mom's face had gone slack. She quickly called 911 and described the situation to the dispatcher.

"I'm in the house with my mom and I think she's having a stroke now," A'nasia tells the dispatcher in a strong voice.
"Why do you think she's having a stroke?" he asks.
"Because her face is, like, turning to the right," A'nasia replied.
The girl unlocked the door of her home and stayed on the line with the dispatcher until an EMS crew arrived.
The dispatcher repeatedly encouraged her.
"Alright, dear. You're doing a great job. Your mom's going to be awful proud of you the way you're helping her out," he said.

A'nasia's mother, Janée Clayton, is recovering now with the help of quick action by first responders and her daughter.

A'nasia received an award from Charles County officials on Tuesday afternoon and met the dispatcher and EMS crew who helped save her mom.
